Palo Verde Laboratory
Palo Verde Laboratory, a division of Sonora Quest Laboratories, is a full service Cytogenetics laboratory located on the main laboratory premises providing comprehensive services for a variety of chromosome studies, including congenital disorders, prenatal diagnosis, and hematologic/oncologic disorders. These studies include both traditional cytogenetics techniques as well as molecular cytogenetics by FISH. Palo Verde Laboratory also cultures fibroblasts and amniocytes in preparation for testing. A wide range of specimens can be analyzed for obstetric, pediatric, and adult constitutional chromosomal abnormality, as well as acquired chromosomal abnormality (neoplastic) cases under the medical direction and technical supervision of Pathology Specialists of Arizona (PSA).
Palo Verde Laboratory is staffed by three PhD, board-certified directors who are CLIA qualified to direct a cytogenetics laboratory. Our technologists are certified in cytogenetics by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Our chromosomal and FISH analyses meet or surpass the College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirements for cytogenetic laboratories and we are a certified reference laboratory for the Children’s Oncology Group.
Palo Verde Laboratory is staffed from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Please see our Hematology/Oncology Test Reference for a listing of the most commonly requested FISH, Molecular, and Flow Cytometry tests.
