Most of us don't think much about which diagnostic lab we use. The fact is that healthcare decisions made by doctors include lab results about 75% of the time. It makes sense to want the best possible team behind you.

Why does it matter which lab I choose?

Sonora Quest Laboratories performs more routine and specialized tests than any laboratory in Arizona. Through our integrated laboratory network, we see many complex cases that allow us to build a foundation of expertise unavailable at other laboratories. We are invested in the Arizona community with laboratories in the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas, as well as in Flagstaff, Prescott, and Yuma.

Sonora Quest Laboratories is contracted and in-network with the majority of health plans in Arizona. We also offer discounted pay at time of service pricing for patients with high deductibles and offer a 0% APR payment plan solution through CarePayment. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare.

Our high volume of testing performed within our laboratory network (more than 97 million diagnostic tests each year) allows us to develop dynamic systems that help to streamline processes and improve quality. In fact, we were the first healthcare establishment to be awarded with the Arizona Governor's Award for Quality, and the first company to earn this distinction since 2001. No organization has attained this award since. The Governor's Award for Quality recognizes organizations that have mature and fully-developed quality systems within their operations; that demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and have achieved a sustained significant record of performance. When selecting a physician, you want someone who is well trained and experienced. Your physician wants a lab that is equally well trained and experienced, and so should you. These are just a few of the reasons Sonora Quest Laboratories is the leading diagnostic testing laboratory in the state of Arizona and why it matters which lab you and your physician choose.

How do I know the results from Sonora Quest Laboratories are accurate?

Our laboratories are accredited by CAP (College of American Pathologists) and licensed by CLIA as administered through CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid). These agencies’ accreditation requirements include that our laboratories have appropriate and effective policies, procedures and training for employees related to Compliance, Code of Conduct, HIPAA, Quality, and Safety.

Sonora Quest Laboratories has established and follows written procedures for comprehensive quality assurance and compliance programs. These programs are designed to monitor and evaluate the ongoing and overall quality and compliance of the total process (pre-analytic/pre-test order, analytic, and post-analytic to include the billing component). These programs evaluate the effectiveness of policies and procedures, identify and correct problems, assure accurate, reliable and prompt reporting of test results, and assure adequacy, competency and training of all employees. The quality assurance and compliance programs define our commitment to quality through continuously improving our processes and outcomes for the betterment of our patients, our physicians, our community, and ourselves.

How far will I have to drive for testing? And how long will I have to wait once I get there?

With over 75 Patient Service Centers located statewide, including ten sites located in Safeway stores, you shouldn't have to spend a lot of time traveling. You also want to spend less time in a waiting room. We realize your time is valuable, so we offer online appointment scheduling so that you can schedule a date and time that is convenient for you for your next Patient Service Center visit. Otherwise you can just drop by most of our Patient Service Centers when you have a free moment. We're committed to serving all of our patients as promptly as possible. Also note that several of our Patient Service Centers are open on Saturday.

What if my doctor wants follow-up testing?

Sonora Quest Laboratories keeps many samples after initial testing, so follow-up tests can often be performed on the same sample if your doctor requires it. That's particularly important when results indicate that additional testing may be beneficial. This saves you and your doctor the valuable time that it would take for you to have to be recollected.

Have you committed to high service standards - in writing?

Regulations for phlebotomists, the formal job title for people who draw blood, are inconsistent from state to state. That's why Sonora Quest Laboratories established its own Phlebotomy Code of Conduct and Patient Service Gold Standards - to help ensure that Sonora Quest Laboratories´ more than 750 phlebotomists statewide consistently deliver superior service to our patients during each and every visit. Every Sonora Quest Laboratories patient service center displays both the Code of Conduct and Patient Service Gold Standards for all patients to see. Ask your phlebotomist about them. We're proud to follow these Standards.

What can you do to help me and my child deal with our fear of needles?

We know how scary sample collection can be for some children and adults. You should use a lab whose goal it is to put patients first — including children. That's why every Sonora Quest Laboratories technician is trained to make sample collection as efficient and pain-free as possible. More than 28,000 patients visit Sonora Quest Laboratories´ patient service centers every day. They keep coming back, in part, because of the high quality standards adhered to by our more than 750 professional phlebotomists.

How do you ensure the confidentiality of my personal health information?

As Arizona's leader in diagnostic laboratory testing, Sonora Quest Laboratories is committed to the highest standards when it comes to protecting the confidentiality of personal health information. Sonora Quest Laboratories is committed to meeting the privacy and security requirements of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). This includes strict policies and practices desinged to help protect confidential information and limiting access of confidential information to certain employees. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

How quickly can I get my results?

We know that waiting for laboratory results causes anxiety and worry. Sonora Quest Laboratories has created goals for what we term "turnaround time," the time it takes from when we draw your sample until the laboratory produces results for physicians to interpret and diagnose. That's why we created a goal that ensures your doctor gets your results for most tests the very next morning. In fact, >90% of routine testing is reported to physicians by 8:00 A.M. the following morning.

You can also get your test results directly from us. View your options to get your test results.

Can you help me understand my test results and how they impact my overall health?

Sonora Quest Laboratories and our affiliated laboratory network have a wealth of diagnostic testing knowledge and expertise. We continually post patient education materials regarding various tests and health conditions. These materials are available in brochure format at all of our Patient Service Centers throughout the state. You can also use the Learn About Lab Tests tool throughout our web site to learn more about various lab tests.
