Jean, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.

Upon graduation from The University of North Dakota, with a B.S. degree in Cytotechnology (Cancer Diagnosis), I accepted a Cytotechnologist staff position at Damon Clinical Laboratories, a commercial laboratory in Phoenix, Arizona. I also worked at Good Samaritan Medical Center, gaining hospital-based laboratory experience prior to joining what has known today as Sonora Quest Laboratories (SQL). Over the past 29 years, I have strived to continuously improve myself, learn from others, take on new challenges and additional responsibility, and continue to grow my business and leadership skills. Most people would have to move to new companies over time to do that, but I have been blessed and most fortunate to have held ten different roles at SQL. I strongly believe that you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. It truly takes a good team effort to execute a business strategy and continually grow an organization. On a personal level, it also takes a supportive family.

Earning an MBA in Healthcare Administration and the wide range of both operational and leadership experience gained in laboratory medicine prepared me for my current role as Vice President, Operational Excellence. As a member of our Senior Leadership Team since 2000, I have watched our company continuously innovate and grow. Our President & CEO, David A. Dexter’s vision and mentorship has been instrumental in our organization’s success as well as my personal success. Working for an organization whose values align well with my personal values keeps me engaged and motivated to move our organization forward. We have faced a lot of change in the laboratory industry over the years and I am so excited to see where technology and innovation take our company in the future.
