TEMPE, Ariz. (January 21, 2019) – Sonora Quest Laboratories, the leader in clinical laboratory testing in Arizona, has appointed medical veteran and board-certified pathologist, Regina Van Buren, M.D., as medical director. For more than 10 years, Dr. Van Buren has been instrumental in the laboratory industry as the medical director for major healthcare companies including Banner Estrella Medical Center Laboratory and Abrazo Health. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the laboratory industry that will support the innovation and growth goals of Sonora Quest Laboratories.

As medical director, Dr. Van Buren will support Sonora Quest’s growth and strategic plans, assisting in the transition to an enhanced laboratory information system for anatomic pathology, providing medical guidance on the expansion of direct-to-consumer testing through Sonora Quest’s My Lab ReQuest™ service, and overseeing instrumentation and testing validations at Sonora Quest’s main laboratory in Tempe to ensure the quality, accuracy and reliability of lab services.

She is an active member in the healthcare community, serving as Pathology Specialists of Arizona Executive Committee member, Clin-Path Associates Executive Committee member and Laboratory Sciences of Arizona Anatomic Pathology Steering Committee member.

Dr. Van Buren received her Bachelor of Science degree in physiology from the University of Illinois and medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed residency in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
